CANTERBURY HIGH COUNTRY FARMING
Mount White Station is one of New Zealand's largest privately-owned stations, covering 40,000 hectares.
Our stock graze on the terraces alongside the turquoise blue waters of the Waimakariri river at 550 metres to the high station slopes, 2,000m above sea level.
The station's boundaries are not fence lines, instead they are the Puketeraki Range, the Dampier Range and the Waimakariri River, with the Poulter and Esk winding their way through the property.
Mt White Station farms Merino and Half-bred sheep, Hereford cattle, and Red deer.
Our merino wool is proudly supplied to the Norwegian clothing brand "Devold "as part of their "Sheep to Shop "supplier programme.
Our lamb and beef is proudly supplied to “Alliance” whose world-class technology, meticulous production values, highest levels of ethical production and adherence to environmental sustainability, have all contributed to their reputation for food excellence.
HIGH COUNTRY FARMING
HIGH COUNTRY MUSTERING
Mt White station's annual Autumn and shearing musters are the stuff of legends. Being one of few high-country stations in New Zealand to still muster a Merino wether flock by horseback, this six, plus day muster involves:
Experienced shepherds, with capable teams of dogs, on proven station horses, navigating the rugged terrain and steep countryside.
They are mustering nearly 4,000 Merino Wethers from the vast high country to the lower plains for belly crutching and shearing.
HUNTING
Mount White station is closed for all hunting.
